too,too,long,tuesday
wow- a long day for me. I JUST finished today and now I need to "sort of" prepare for tomorrow! (did I mention today was a long one yet?) schedule changes, walk-ins, dead fax machine (making the phone ring even more often than normal), and did I note it was a long day? FINALLY, I had to ask for reinforcements in my pathetic voice. It wasn't difficult, as I was feeling pretty pathetic at the time! And with a couple hours of help, I STILL DIDN'T finish! BUT, as my supervisor says from time to time. "I did ok, and I didn't kill nobody." So, as a human "bean", I will just have to pick up some of the slack tomorrow and Thursday. Besides, it's already been a LONG DAY for at least 2 hours!! THANK THE LORD for my buds at work (in other locations today) - they are pickin' up the slack nearly every day! what troupers!!

busy, busy, busy = funX3

I've been playing around with this & that all day since I am at a stand
still on my memory book, as I wait for some "stuff" from a couple of
my sisters.

I haven't got much done in the way of chores
but then ... what the heck .... it's my day off
anyway. (yippeeee)

Sometimes, you just gotta do what your heart & soul is in the mood for,
and let the other stuff slide. FORTUNATELY, even my Captain agrees
with that!
It's been a good day.
I hope I have another one just like it IMMEDIATELY- haha

a weekend ... the SWEET elixer of life!
oh how I doooooooooooooo love my weekends. Particularly when there is time "unspent" wen I get to it. That is , not a lot of things on the list of chores. With our weather being quite mild and consistant lately, it has been even better. A little sunsine certainly helps the mood and the flowers! Tomorrow might be just the day for some wildflower pictures too!

had I been alive, I think I would be dead
that is to say (to lessen your obvious confusion) ..... if I lived in the south, and been born earlier. Still scratching your head?
I watched "The Secret Lives of Bees" last night. My eyes are STILL puffy 10 hours later. But to the point .... everytime I watch movies that involve inequality- more specifically slavery& black civil rights, I feel a connection. I also feel shame (for being part of a human race who could allow such cruelty) I feel the pain, the sorrow, the degradation- all in what clearly must be only fractions of what was experienced. And I know. Inside my head and my aching heart, I know. I would have been killed because of how I feel and what I would have said. I KNOW I would have stepped in. I would have been involved. I would have died for what I felt was right. And for all I know, maybe I did & maybe I was.

antie Em, antie Em
WOW- we had some awesome gusts here as March came ROARING thru this past couple of days. I thought the saying was that this particular month came roaring IN, but perhaps this year it's in a hurry to leave! (what with global warming ya know) AND, speaking of leaving- we leave 6 months from today for our annual Hawaii vacation and for some reason, I am ready RIGHT NOW! ha Our practice manager returns today after visiting family there for 10 days and I am sure she will rub it in good!
Well this is the start of my busy work week but I do so with some positives in my pocket. My adorable car is sparkling clean, the weather report is groovey, the laundry is all done, & it's only 4 days to the next weekend!

I am bad, I am very, VERY bad
well - in the big picture, I am more stupid than bad to be honest.
Since I have taken on duties at work that doubles repetitive movement & computer work, my carpal(?) symptoms have soared (and sored too) BUT then, I come home and play on my computer or do some scrapping and ...... well, of course that totally aggrevates the situation !
Sooooo, I have decided motrin 3 times a week is the answer. It works and I can work & play pretty comfortably. and I do sooooo love to play! I spent about 6 straight hours in my craft room today (YAY)

there could be something to being incompetant ya know
I gotta admit it, sometimes I do wonder what it would be like to have literally nothing expected of me. There might be some value to not being one of the first to be called on to help accomplish something important. When people find out that when time is short, you are more organized & focused (or you take care of things on your own time) - it seems to lead to more situations of the same. and pretty soon ......
Judging from my sisters, I would say I came by these traits honestly. They are "mostly" a blessing, but occassionally a curse as well. Once management figures out that the more you're given, the more you handle- then pretty soon handling more is the norm and even more is eventually expected. For the most part, I don't have issue with this either. But it has come back to bite me in the butt a couple of times. My time is spent, the task is completed, my job is over. Nothing personal, just business (and I still take such things "personally") Sometimes, 120% is not enough. Sometimes, loyalty, dedication & sacrifice is not enough. Sometimes, it comes down to the numbers. And while I don't want to become more cynical yet- I do have to be realistic because ALL OF OUR days are numbered in one way or another right? AT this point I am hoping for my sake, and that of some really great people I work with that this is just a rough spot in the road and that we still have a journey to continue. You know what I mean ... that this will all make us stronger .... sorta like what is being preached to us about the economy & such. It sounds encouraging, I know that is the intent- but let's get real. It's not my spending or non-spending that landed us here. I take responsibility for my goofs or mistakes, then I rectify them. At my own expense. With my own time. I am not pointing fingers. I don't have my hand out. but I seem to have digressed ...... reading the newspaper or listening to the news brings out the beast in me these days.
I don't want to sacrifice my personal or family time (or even my health for that matter) but I will continue to give a minimum of 100% when it is needed in hopes that it is valued or contagious. and with that .... I am officially starting my weekend attitude! I hope you already did too!!!!

fwiiiiidaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
OMG I almost missed it. this week has gone by so fast (finally) that I almost missed experiencing the joyous emotion of realizing it's Friday! that would have been a bummer. and did I mention that LAST WEEK, I got 3/4 of the way to my Thursday office before realizing I was going west instead of north to the correct office!! my mind was soooooooo jumbled from the week that I was comatose. anyway .... let us all have happy feet today :o) I promise to take a moment to snip a orchid spray from the garden, take a walk on the beach, sip a glass of wine on the lanai at sunset, & clean out one cupboard (and do some scrapping!!!!!) Have a good weekend

lucky me (just not at the moment)
I know I have talked a lot about being lucky, and knowing it, and appreciating it- so along those lines, I am going to look for some silver linings to the past few weeks. If you know me ... you will probably know or can guess at some of the cryptic/sarcastic references.
I am glad the stock market is currently in the "on" position. I am glad that I do eventually get home each day. I AM glad I HAVE a job. I am glad there is make up that does, indeed, cover all. I am glad I have a very comfortable bed for those nights when I am able to sleep. I am glad Hawaii is only 6 months away. I am glad the snails only got to a couple of my orchid plants. I am glad that only one of my cats is chewing away all the hair on it's stomach. I am glad the 80+ degree weather (without A/C) only happens a dozen days a year. And even though I could likely go on & on far into the day with this "glad" stuff .... I want to get to the "big one" now- I AM GLAD that the Captain is patient with me (and a good listener) at those moments when I am having trouble focusing on all that I should be glad about!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you my hubby.

a bit of blarney would have been better
well alrighty then ..... I was a hopin' to get over to our traditional St Patty's dinner in time to enjoy my once a year corned beef & cabbage with my hubby- but low & behold ... was not to be. Work was a demon today. busy, hectic & LONG. But, I arrived in time to order a plate to go, kiss the Captain as he headed off for class & escort Pops home. The meal left something to be desired (flavor for one), so I think we'll have to find a better place for next year. BUT, I am finally home & headed for a nice, hot bubble bath! Happy St Patrick's Day !!

my spurts of creativity
It has LONG been a pattern for me that I am best at what I am trying to accomplish when I am "in the mood" to tackle the task. For this reason- I may go for days without sewing, card making, scrapping, decorating, writing poetry, etc. This is why having a whole room to myself is such a luxury. Whatever I may be in the mood for .... won't end in the middle of the day (although it could start at any moment)- but when I have to actually quit for the day, it is possible (and likely) that I may not get back to it for days or even weeks. And wouldn't you know, I got my spurt at 3pm today and I have to work tomorrow. (where was the waterworks on Friday at 3pm when I had the rest of the weekend to go???!!!) bummer. HOWEVER, the past 5 hours have been quite productive & whooshed by! (maybe the next 4 days of work will too- HA)

valuable quiet time
There are not enough of these moments. Quiet, uncompromised, set in soft light with a rich (large mug) coffee at hand. I like it best early in the morning when even nature has yet to stretch out & yawn. But on those days when the alarm does not beckon- I do love that extra hour (or 2) of sleep. I have recently set that necessary nuisance 15 minutes earlier so that I can grab more of those valuable minutes before the sun rises.
I also appreciate the late night time I occassionally steal from the Captain, although it's rare. I have time to myself here & there during most weekends but it's not the same. I particularly relish the days when a thick blanket of fog envelopes the house and the only sound I hear is the ticking of the wall clock pendulum and my fingers tapping on the keyboard ..... or a steady rain shower that taps at the large window next to me here in the dining room. Just me. my thoughts. This is MY time.
