LIFE (vs the alternative)

we take it for granted .... ALL OF US DO, just some more than others. Little people think about death when they lose a pet - asking their parents to promise never to leave. Teenagers think they are immortal, never believing it will happen to them. Then we get caught up in our own lives and don't think about it for a long time if it doesn't touch us in some way. And then ..... our parents begin to age and after our denial stage- we start thinking about it more (finally). If we are lucky, these thoughts encourage us spend time more frequently with those we love. By this time, "the alternative" has probably hit closer to home more than once. Along the way, we hear about how it's affected friends as well. We trade stories of those taken suddenly or too young.
Hopefully, if we learn anything at all we have said something or done something for people we know are ill or hurting. Spending time with someone who is in serious condition isn't easy- for either party (I believe). What to say, what not to say. But say or do SOMETHING. You will be the better for it, & chances are .... so will those around you.
just some rambling on my part .......
