traditionally, this day is spent quietly, with the "real" Thanksgiving Day celebrated with a large family group on Saturday. Noise, comotion, great food, lots going on ..... but this year, with life getting in the way of our social calendar ... it's a little different. We are here- tucked safe & sound (?) in our cozy home for the long holiday weekend. BUT- without much of a thought or a plan .... our neighbors, who are as much family as friends could get .... were sharing their harvest with us & vise-versa and you would have thought hours of planning had paved the way. Like clockwork- they arrived for PIE NOON ... then disappeared for a few hours to return with bountiful side dishes to compliment the golden bird that had been rescued from our oven. The meal turned into a laugh-fest & sharing of memories from many Thanksgivings past and the time flew by. Next thing ya know, it was 10:30pm and I heard .... "well, we better get to bed so these nice peole can go home!" (gonna use that one again sometime I assure you). So you see ..... even at war with these people ..... we found a way to all just get along!
